My association with Chris Poulos goes back 30 years. How much I needed him. He did an excellent job with the conservatorship he wrote for my autistic son and gave me unlimited time and direction. It was necessary for him to travel from Corona to Santa Barbara to appear in court. He made this trip without charging me for anything except the charge for drawing up the conservatorship…a very reasonable charge. This trip had to be made again when the people serving with me changed. Through all these years I have come to know and totally respect Chris Poulos. He is man compassion and has great concern for those he serves. I have called him and e-mailed him and had an on-going friendship with Chris and his wife all these years. They are excellent examples of true Christians and he is an exceptional man of integrity.
In 2006, Christopher set up a conservatorship and court ordered special needs trust for my daughter. Not only did Christopher do a wonderful job, he worked with my financial advisor, he answered all of my questions and helped relieve my anxiety over the process. I enjoy working with Christopher and highly recommend him.
My husband and I went to Christopher to establish a Conservator and Special Needs Trust for our disabled daughter in 1995. Christopher is very kind and we can tell he cares about our family. He understands the hardships we face, as he has a son with disabilities also. He is honest about what to expect throughout the court proceedings and prepared us every step of the way. He does our biennial accountings with the court and handles everything so we do not even have to go to court anymore. He is always happy to answer any questions we have. We greatly appreciate Christopher and would definitely recommend him to anyone going through the court process.
I came to Christopher for a conservatorship and a court ordered special needs trust for my developmentally disabled son. Christopher was wonderful in helping me set up both. He was very knowledgeable about the processes and walked us through them. My son is now living independently in an accessible home with guest rooms for me and his father owned by his Special Needs Trust, which is all possible due to Christopher’s great work in telling us about and setting up the Special Needs Trust. He also has a mini van in his Trust so he can direct his staff to take him wherever he needs to go, which is only possible because of the trust Christopher set up for us. I am eternally grateful of Christopher and know that my son has the things he needs, but also has learned to participate and advocate for himself through the tools he has received because of the trust Christopher set up. He is now on both the national self advocacy board, SABE, and on the statewide ARC Board. My son & I both than Christopher very much!
Christopher is a dedicated and caring lawyer. He was a great help in a conservatorship case involving a member of our family that survived a severe brain injury. We would highly recommend Christopher and would not hesitate to call on his services again in the need arose.
Christopher Poulos is truly a people person as well as a great attorney. He cares about the families and the people with special needs that come to him for legal advice and help.
Since he has a son with special needs too, he understands what it’s like to be a parent of someone with special needs. He cares about the people with special needs too. We got Limited Conservatorship for our son Michael back in 2002. After it was all over and we walked out of the courtroom, Christopher gave all of us a high five, including our son Michael!!! It was a great day for all of us!!!
Over the years, I have asked Christopher to come present at a few different events regarding special needs to talk about various topics that he does in his practice. He has graciously accepted and free of charge!!!
I have also contacted him with various questions regarding Limited Conservatorship for our son over the years also. One concern I had about his adult program he told me, “No, you can’t really expect them to do that, Michael still has the legal right to have friends and associate with others without giving you a written schedule to everywhere they go”.
Another time something came up and I was told, no he legally can’t sign any documents, tell them he can’t do that when they tried to have him sign some paperwork instead of asking me. Then most recently I asked Christopher a question about a proof of disability form from husband’s job since their new insurance company is out of state. I was told the forms are fine and explained why, go ahead and have it completed by the doctor here in CA and we did. After a little more leg work on our end our son is now being added to the policy.
We were referred to Christopher Poulos by two other families with sons with special needs and we are so glad they did. I have given Christopher’s name to a few other families as well.
